Mark Knopfler says:
'It’s a sad farewell to old friend in song Brendan Croker who has
succumbed to leukaemia.
We had many happy years sharing music including touring and singing with our
mutual pal Steve Phillips in the Notting Hillbillies.
My thoughts are with Brendan’s partner Ali and their friends everywhere.'

We are very pleased to invite you to
the opening of our new exhibition
"Framed Events - visual
art by Ian Taylor and Brendan Croker" Friday October 8th, 2010
7pm to 8pm
Refreshments and music
Ian is a well known artist and sculptor
living in Bradford.Later this year he retires as a teacher at Bradford
College where he has shaped the future careers of many of the important
Artists who have emerged from there.
Brendan
is possibly better known as an outstanding musician with his own band, the
Five O'clock Shadows and as co founder of the Notting Hillbillies as well as
being regular feature of the Mekons and Tasmin Archer's line ups. But he
trained as a visual artist and has regularly shows in Europe including most
recently at the Ghent Festival.
Ian and Brendan are old friends
and their work sits well together. They repertoire includes many of the techniques
used by surrealists and dadists. But rather than creating surreal worlds their
witty, wry and beautifully crafted works more often point up the delicious absurdities
of the world outside our doors....
I
hope you can make the opening, if not please try to catch it before it ends on
7th November. We are open Thursday to Sunday.

Dutch radio DJ and
music journalist Hubert van Hoof had passed away.
Hubert (BC: "the life President of Limbabwe") was a good friend of
Brendan and he promoted him for a life time.
Hubert kept playing Brendan on the radio until today and had him many times live
in the studio.
They also played together in the 90's, calling themselves The Lost Hawaiians.

You’ll probably read more about Brendan in
obituaries soon.
He was a true artist in every way, appeared eccentric to many but was positive, brave and
generous to a fault.
The song I can hear
Brendan singing now is the one we used to finish our set with, ‘Feel Like
Going Home’.
